Call 4 Action: Veteran says power outage ruined appliances

Miguel Guillen is a disabled Vietnam Veteran who recently returned from San Antonio after undergoing a Triple Bypass Surgery.

But his arrival home, wasn't very comforting, because a power surge ruined many of his electronics and appliances.

"It could've burned my house, it could've done more damage with my family here," he said.

The power surge not only cost him a lot of headaches it cost him and his family to lose a lot of their belongings.

"We lost three air conditioning units, two DVD players, a microwave, several televisions, the refrigerator and a freezer" said Guillen's son Inocencio. "Ceiling fans went out, and light bulbs broke."

The bigger problem, however, is getting the power company to help him pay about $3,000 worth of losses and repair costs.

Three weeks until it begins anew

I am really excited about the potential of this season, but that is what every February holds. I am hoping that they can all play to their potential and the season will last into October. The 3 "old men" need to bring all they have, and the young guys need to learn all they can from Smolts and Glavine one last time around. Our offence will be fine if Chipper can stay healthy. Lets get football finished so my favorite sport can start. Play Ball!!!

Does anyone know how many Braves games will be on TBS this year, if any. Living in the city that just lost the R-braves, I don't get Sports South, so I will be watching the games on my computer.

Desperation Strikes

There’s a man-conquering blonde bombshell who prances around the neighborhood dressed like an exotic dancer; a nosy, blackmailing neighbor who always seems to know a little too much about other people’s business; and the hunky neighbor guy who just moved in, whose mysterious ways keep viewers wondering if he’s a sinner or a saint.

The matriarchal quartet’s different styles of desperation always take center stage, even as the murder-mystery story line unfolds.

And, of course, any group of women in the media’s spotlight are sure to stir up plenty of gossip and scandalous fodder for the columnists and bloggers, some true, some invented. If anything, the whiff of scandal and actress-on-actress rivalries (including a cast fight over which Housewives actress would be front-and-center for a Vanity Fair cover earlier this year) has only enhanced its popularity.

The Fall of Romney, Inc.

In fairness to Team Romney, they did more right than not. They rose from single digits in the national polls to receiving 32% of the primary votes cast to date. They became the conservative establishment's choice. They leveraged mechanical and resource superiority into solid leads in Iowa and New Hampshire, giving Rudy Giuliani pause about competing in the early states and chasing John McCain from Iowa. They leveraged their candidate's mastery of pat, 60-second answers into dominance (and rising poll numbers) out of the first debates. They met their goal of winning Ames, and got a bump. They met their goal of 30,000 votes in the Iowa Caucus.

Nearly all of the benchmarks set by Romney, Inc. were met — and often with flying colors. They checked every box they needed to become the nominee.

Only 10 of 46 air cons operable at Tamuning Elementary

Just when things were beginning to cool off, things are heating back up at Tamuning Elementary School. Students at the central school are feeling the heat once again, as a majority of the classrooms are without working air conditioning units. (This comes a few months after the units were repaired.) A total of 36 out of 46 classrooms are currently without the services of functional A/C."I told the board I'd challenge them to come to my school, sit in my class and watch my teacher give a lesson, because it's so hot," said Student Body Association president Geawna Hernandez. The outspoken fifth grader had approached the Guam Education Policy Board during its meeting last night, voicing her frustrations. The student says teachers are conducting classes outside because the heat has become unbearable, adding that she doesn't want to return back a modified bell schedule. She explained, "It's really hot and I know that not all of the kids like school, but I kind of like school and I don't want to go back to the 12 o'clock schedule anymore.
